The traditional Armenian Gampr Dog is a native of the Armenian Highlands. These Armenian Dog Breeds were identified as a national heritage to Armenia after its independence in 1991. These flock guardians are found all over the Transcaucasus area. These Gampr dogs are typically used to protect the flocks of goats and sheep from wolves and other predators. They are also used to guard houses and property as they are a massive and powerful dog breed. This dog has a heavy bone structure, and a coat, long or short of any color, is characterized by a soft undercoat. These dogs are of a quirky temperament as they are always quite aloof and are gentle with children. They do not typically play as they are always observant and guarding the property and its owners. Gampr dogs weigh about (110-120)lbs and height (23-25)inches. Their average lifespan is 12 to 15 years.
