Chihuahua

The Chihuahua is a toy dog native to Mexico. Mexican Dog Breeds are the smallest dogs in the world having five distinct variations and were bred as companions. They are loyal, aggressive and sassy breeds and are believed to have originated in 100 AD. Chihuahuas are good companions when treated respectfully and are renowned for snapping at strangers and even at small children.

They are preferably one master dogs who require moderate exercise , proper training and early socialisation. Typically easy to groom, Chihuahuas have short to medium-length coats of varied shades, popular apple heads, large eyes, long tail, pointy ears and are compactly built. It has a longevity of 12-20 years and is prone to patellar luxation.

Xoloitzcuintle

Xoloitzcuintle or Xoloitzcuintli is a Mexican dog breed. Mexican Dog Breeds were bred for hunting and have ancient origins. The Xolos were often sacrificed with their dead owners and eaten by the Aztecs. Named after the god Xolotl, this dog has even featured in Frida Kahlo’s paintings and is aloof, protective and intelligent by nature.

They are great family companions and need regular exercise, training and early socialisation. Xoloitzcuintle is an excellent watchdog and needs attentive skin grooming. It comes in both size and coat variations and has hairless black, red or bronze coats, slim long tail, pointed erect ears and features a compact well-muscled physique. Xolo lives 12-15 years and is prone to patellar luxation and skin problems like acne.
